City of Raleigh Stormwater Management Division’s mission is to manage stormwater to preserve and protect life, support healthy natural resources, and complement sustainable growth within a vibrant community. Our goal is to improve surface water quality in the 20 different major streams that connect to Walnut Creek or Crabtree Creek, and eventually flow into the Neuse River in Raleigh.
In 2016, City of Raleigh stormwater volunteers collected 6,000 pounds of trash from Raleigh's waterways. These efforts play a significant role in reducing water pollution to streams, lakes, and rivers in North Carolina.
You can help too! There are many opportunities to become a volunteer with the Stormwater Management Division, including Adopt-a-Stream and Foster-a-Stream programs; the Storm Drain Marking Program; and the Stream Monitoring Program.
